أخطاء شائعة في اللغة الانجليزية - الدرس الثاني

السلام عليكم ورحمة الله وبركاته

1-

don't say : Khaled is ashamed from his conduct

say : Khaled is ashamed of his conduct

المعنى : يشعر خالد بالخزي من تصرفه.


2-

don't say : I am ashamed of my teacher

say : I am shy of my teacher

المعنى : انا خجلان من مدرسي ( يعني مستحي من المدرس)-


3-

don't say : We believe to Allah

say : We believe in Allah

المعنى : نحن نؤمن بالله عز وجل

note: to believe in means to have faith in. To believe without the preposition in means to regard something as true

ملاحظة : كلمة believe اذا جاء معها حرف الجر in فان معناها هو يؤمن بــ اما اذا جاءت بدون حرف جر فان معناها يصدق ( من الصدق الذي هو ضد الكذب)

4-

don't say : You boast for your strength

say : You boast of your strength

or say :You boast about your strength

المعنى : انت تتفاخر بقوتك ( الجسمانية)

5-

don't say : Faisal travelled with train yesterday

say: Faisal travelled by train yesterday

المعنى : سافر فيصل بالقطار امس.

ashamed of = خزيان من (يشعر بالخزي من)

shy of = خجلان من

believe in = يؤمن بـــ

believe = يصدق

boast of = boast about = يتفاخر بــ

by train = عن طريق القطار

Greetings

I would like to give the readers these corrections
Don't say: Between me and you, our teacher is not qualified enough.
But say: Between you and me, our teacher etc….

Don't say: This tissue is dirty, throw it.
But say: This tissue is dirty, throw it away.

Don't say: Give me a bread.
But say: Give me bread.
Because bread is uncountable noun. So, the uncountable nouns don'` take either a/an or "s" for the plural
